About JCWE

ABOUT JCLEE

Journal of Creative Writing and Evaluation (JCWE) (Print ISSN: -; Online ISSN: -) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Hong Kong Information Education Publishing Company Limited. JCWE publishes four issues each year in both Chinese and English.

Scope and Topics

The Journal of Creative Writing and Evaluation (JCWE) centers on writing subjects, creative practices and writing assessment, and commits itself to advancing the research of creative writing and the construction of assessment systems across national, linguistic, disciplinary and media boundaries. Different from text-centered approaches to literary criticism, this journal focuses on writers’ creative practices, the development of writing literacy, cognitive processes of composition, identity formation of writers, as well as the mechanisms of generation, feedback, review and circulation of writing outputs. It examines the interactions between writers and educational contexts, reviewers, publishing platforms, readers, media and socio-cultural contexts. The journal welcomes theoretical inquiry, case studies, comparative research, workshop-based practice research, archival research, digital humanities and empirical assessment, and encourages dialogues between global perspectives and local writing experiences. Beyond traditional creative writing studies, it gives special attention to emerging groups of writers, including science fiction writers, children’s literature writers, online literature writers, nonfiction writers, literary reportage writers and biographical writers, alongside emergent creative forms and intelligent writing agents related to transmedia writing and AI-assisted writing. The journal seeks to build an open and rigorous scholarly platform for researchers worldwide, facilitate theoretical innovation and knowledge accumulation in creative writing and assessment studies, and deepen the understanding and interpretation of creative writing activities, assessment paradigms and the value of writers in diverse cultural contexts.
